Ginger Tiger Recipes

Premium ginger from Thailand

Ginger has been known and used for centuries in cooking and for medicinal purposes. Now Dole brings you the premium ginger from Thailand: 'Ginger Tiger'. Historically, ginger is believed to have many health benefits and has a long tradition of being very effective in alleviating symptoms of stomach disorders and motion sickness.

Try 'Ginger Tea' for nausea. Steep two or three slices or ¼ - ½ tsp of grated fresh ginger in a cup of hot water and sip slowly. To make a refreshing drink, add a little honey and the juice of half a lemon. Aromatic, spicy and with a strong flavour, ginger adds zest to Asian stir-fries and many fruit and vegetable dishes. After peeling, ginger can be sliced, grated, minced or chopped, then added to your favourite dishes. For stir-fries or stews, add ginger at the beginning of the cooking process for a subtle flavor. Added near the end, it will deliver a more intense taste.

Here are a few simple ideas for you to try:

  • Add grated ginger and orange juice to mashed kumara.
  • Add finely chopped ginger to brown sugar and raisins, and use to stuff baked apples.
  • Add freshly chopped ginger to sauteed vegetable.
  • Add freshly grated ginger to carrot or pumpkin soup.
  • Add ground ginger and chopped lime zest to butter, and use top top grilled fish.
  • Add zest to a marinade with chopped fresh ginger, garlic, soy sauce and a little sesame oil.
  • Add grated ginger to fresh fruit and vegetable juices.
